The story
Iacopo Alfeo’s family has lived in Bolgheri for 5 generations. The 60-hectare farm was originally a mixed farm and right from the very beginning, the family cultivated not only grape vines, but fruit trees, olive trees and raised animals. This is one of the oldest underground cellars in the territory and also one of the area’s most historic oil mills.
The vineyards
As wine production in Bolgheri began to expand, so did the farm and the estate’s activities started to focus on premium quality viticulture, a sound approach considering that the property includes certified organic farmland with 10 hectares of certified organic vineyards. The vineyards are divided into two main areas; one is located east of Donoratico on flat terrain and one is in the Lamentano area in the hillsides. Significant differences in soil composition in the two areas allow winemakers to take full advantage of the many different virtues of Bolgheri’s terroir.
